SBF Hosts the First-Ever SBF Ghana-Singapore Business Dialogue 2025

The inaugural Dialogue was a key platform for strengthening bilateral cooperation and economic ties between Singapore businesses and Ghana

The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) convened the inaugural SBF Ghana–Singapore Business Dialogue on the occasion of the State Visit of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, to Singapore from 26–28 August 2025. The Dialogue formed part of a broader programme that included high-level meetings with Singapore leaders and President Mahama’s keynote address at the 8th Africa–Singapore Business Forum.

The Ghana delegation comprised H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister in charge of Government Communications, Mr. Simon Madjie, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and Mr. Francis Kojo Kwarteng Arthur, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Export Promotion Authority. The event was also graced by Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of National Development, and attended by over 50 Singapore companies, with a total attendee turnout of 110.

The Dialogue reaffirmed the growing depth of bilateral economic ties and spotlighted Ghana as a trusted partner for Singapore companies expanding into Africa. Backed by macroeconomic stability, pro-business reforms, and its hosting of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, Ghana offers both stability and scale. Opportunities are emerging across agribusiness and consumer goods, digital finance and trade facilitation, logistics and connectivity, as well as sustainability solutions — sectors where Singapore firms have complementary strengths.

“With the AfCFTA Secretariat in Accra, Ghana is firmly positioned at the heart of Africa’s economic integration. For Singapore businesses in agribusiness, digital finance, and sustainable energy, Ghana offers both the stability and the scale to serve the wider continent. We look forward to initiatives that will strengthen the partnerships between the business communities in Singapore and Ghana,” said Mr Venkataramani Srivathsan, Chairman of the Africa Business Group at SBF.

Commenting on SBF’s role in supporting the internationalisation of Singapore businesses, Mr S. S. Teo, Chairman of SBF said, “This Dialogue underscores SBF’s commitment to deepening economic ties with Ghana and key African decision-makers. Singapore companies see Ghana not just as a gateway to West Africa, but as a trusted, long-term partner where investments create value through jobs, technology, and sustainable growth.”

SBF will continue to support Singapore businesses pursuing opportunities in Africa through its Africa Business Group and GlobalConnect@SBF initiative. SBF has facilitated more than 130 advisories to Singapore businesses across various sectors including 24 project facilitations venturing into Africa over the last six years.
