Senior Executive/Assistant Manager, Center for the Future of Trade and Investment

This role supports SBF’s Centre for the Future of Trade and Investment (CFOTI) in advancing Singapore’s business interests through international advocacy and outreach.

The incumbent contributes to cross-border trade and investment policy work, while also engaging stakeholders on Digital and Green Economy Agreements (DEAs and GEAs) to drive awareness and adoption at international platforms such as the APEC BAC, ASEAN BAC, International Chambers of Commerce (ICC), Business 20, World Trade Organisation, East Asia Business Council, and Asia Business Summit. The position involves working closely with the Singapore business community, international partners, and government agencies to reduce barriers, create opportunities, and strengthen Singapore’s role in shaping regional and global trade.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Investigate trade and investment issues of concern to the Singapore business community, co-create solutions, and advocate them at international platforms.
  2. Support development of policy positions and formalise these through written policy papers, reports, and presentations.
  3. Provide staffing and secretariat support for APEC, ASEAN and East Asia BAC members at meetings and working groups. Champion and implement ACCEPT (APEC centre of excellence for paperless trade).
  4. Support the reporting officer in the planning and implementation of Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship (2027) and APEC Chairmanship (2030).
  5. Staff the ICC Regional Coordinator for APAC and ICC Singapore as the National Committee, supporting activities such as the ICC Arbitration Group, ICC Customs and Trade Facilitation Group, ICC Digital Economy Group, and ICC Academy.
  6. Assist in outreach on DEAs and GEAs by engaging businesses and government stakeholders to raise awareness and identify challenges in market access.
  7. Track and analyse global developments in trade policy, digital economy, and related areas to inform advocacy positions.
  8. Assist in organising stakeholder consultations, seminars, and events to gather industry feedback and disseminate information.
  9. Maintain records, prepare reports, and provide secretariat support to ensure effective participation in multilateral platforms.
  10. Undertake any other duties and responsibilities assigned by SBF

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Commerce, Economics, Policy & Trade, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Experience or strong interest in international trade, eCommerce, digital trade, technology, or cross-border partnerships will be an advantage.
  • Some experience in staffing work and secretariat support for the priority multi-lateral platforms including ABAC, ASEAN BAC, EABC, ICC etc.
  • Good analytical, consultation, planning and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Strong presentation and event organisation capabilities.
  • Sound understanding of geopolitics, macroeconomics, and international agreements (preferred).
  • Ability to relate well to business representatives.
  • Highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexible and agile, with ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Able to travel frequently.
