Nominated Member of Parliament (NMP) and SBF Council member Mark Lee urged the government to collaborate with industry associations to develop and improve sustainable development plans, assisting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in advancing sustainability efforts. He emphasised the importance of providing more assistance and education to support businesses in their sustainable development, mentioning grants available for SMEs to effectively manage and report emissions. Additionally, NMP Mark Lee advocated for training programmes to cover advanced technical areas and specific industries to meet the practical needs of employees, businesses, and the economy. He also called on the government to leverage smaller labour pools amidst ageing demographics and declining birth rates to support economic growth goals, including utilising freelancers, women returning to the workforce, older individuals, part-time workers, or students interning in companies.
