Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications

We are looking for a highly experienced communications professional (preferably with at least 10 years of relevant experience) to join our team. This individual must possess strong leadership qualities, excellent project management skills, and the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments, particularly within the public and government sectors.

The ideal candidate must have a positive attitude, strong sense of urgency, and the ability to multitask effectively under pressure. You should be able to independently lead projects, engage with senior-level government and business stakeholders, and manage external communications with confidence and precision.

You will play a key role in corporate and marketing communications, media relations, social media, and government-related engagements. Experience in handling managing PR agencies, and providing clear media direction is essential; with that in ministerial-level events an added advantage.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Corporate and Marketing Communications
    • Articulate SBF’s vision, mission, value proposition and organisational objectives to strengthen its position as the apex business chamber.
    • Lead in key message development and corporate storytelling, including content development, drafting of talking points and thought leadership articles/pieces.
    • Provide strategic communications counsel to internal stakeholders on all communication-related issues.
    • Develop corporate materials, such as SBF’s annual report and related collaterals, presentations, videos, and social media content.
    • Oversee the production of EDMs and related socials/infographics, to publicise SBF’s programmes and to strengthen member engagement.
    • Support crisis communications planning and response management.
  2. Media Relations
    • Lead and organise press briefings and media engagements to engage the media and facilitate coverage of SBF’s events and initiatives, particularly for ministerial-level and high-profile events.
    • Draft and vet content for media materials, including press releases, speeches, and factsheets.
    • Handle media queries with a timely, accurate and strategic approach.
    • Cultivate strong relations with media, actively pitch stories and monitor media sentiment.
    • Support media training for spokespeople to enhance the profiling of SBF’s work.
  3. Government and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Engage confidently with government agencies, ensuring strict adherence to protocol and alignment with government communications priorities.
    • Navigate complex stakeholder environments and provide counsel on government-related engagements.
    • Represent the Federation in meetings with external partners, government officials, and agencies.
  4. Social Media & Digital Communications
    • Drive SBF’s social media and digital communications efforts to enhance brand visibility and engagement (LinkedIn, Facebook, WeChat etc.)
    • Lead content creation and develop strategies to strengthen SBF’s value proposition on the website and digital platforms
    • Optimise digital communications campaigns and track performance for return on investments.
  5. Project Management and Leadership
    • Independently manage and lead multiple projects and communication campaigns from strategy to execution.
    • Provide clear, actionable directions to PR agencies and other external partners.
    • Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of communications outputs in fast-paced environments.
  6. Additional Duties
    • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • At least 8-10 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, public affairs, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in managing government-related engagements and ministerial-level events.
  • Strong understanding of government protocols and processes.
  • Excellent media management experience, including handling media queries and working with PR agencies.
  • Exceptional project management and multitasking abilities, especially under tight deadlines.
  • Leadership qualities with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable with both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
